2011 FUSION HYBRID
Fusion gas-powered and hybrid models deliver plenty of responsive performance. So go ahead, enjoy your ride in the MPH zone. And all the while be assured that you’re doing right by the environment, with fuel efficiency that is very impressive

Impressive Power and Great Economy

Does having a powerful engine mean you have to sacrifice economy? The answer is no, if you’re driving a mid-size Ford Fusion. The 2.5L Duratec I-4 engine generates power ratings of 175 horsepower and 172 lbs./ft. of torque, while delivering impressive city and highway mpg.* And imagine getting 41 miles per gallon and being able to travel over 700 miles on a single tank of gas in city traffic. That’s the kind of mileage you can expect to achieve in a Fusion Hybrid. No compromise – expect nothing less in a Ford Fusion.

Hybrid Performance
Fusion Hybrid propulsion is supplied by a combination of two sources: an electric motor powered by an innovative nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery and the next generation of the 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 gas engine. Fusion Hybrid can travel up to 47 miles per hour in Electric Vehicle mode alone, a higher speed than any other hybrid vehicle. The gas engine kicks in below 47 mph when extra power is needed, such as in passing situations, and provides the main source of power above 47 mph. Both the gas engine and the electric motor combine to deliver a power rating of 191 net horsepower when you need maximum power.

SmartGauge™ Cluster with EcoGuide
The exclusive dual LCD SmartGauge™ Cluster with EcoGuide is an innovative gauge cluster that provides real-time information to help you get the most efficiency from your Fusion Hybrid. SmartGauge™ with EcoGuide uses dual liquid crystal display (LCD) screens on either side of the center-mounted speedometer. A tutorial built into the display lets you choose one of four data screens for the level of information you want — Inform, Enlighten, Engage or Empower — and explains your options within each. Steering wheel-mounted controls make it all easy. All levels can indicate instant fuel economy; fuel economy history; odometer; engine coolant temperature; plus trip data including fuel economy, time-elapsed fuel economy and miles to empty . Watch the display grow leaves when you drive efficiently. Or watch them fade when you don’t. More leaves = more mpg. This green motivator works during any of the four display modes.

Easy Fuel™ Filler System
The standard Easy Fuel™ capless fuel filler has an integrated spring-loaded door that allows you to simply insert the fuel nozzle into the tank to fill up. No screw cap is required. And because Easy Fuel™ automatically seals after the fuel nozzle is removed, fewer evaporative emissions are released into the environment.

Regenerative Braking
When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost to heat due to friction. During braking in the Fusion Hybrid, the regenerative braking system captures 94 percent of this energy that is normally lost and sends it back to the battery pack to be stored for later use. Not only is regenerative braking efficient, but it helps minimize wear on the brake pads, lowering the cost of maintenance.

Energy Flow Display
Included in the available Navigation System is the Hybrid Energy Flow Display. It lets you to track the powertrain's four modes of operation — Hybrid Drive, Electric Drive, Gas Engine and Idle Charging — plus instant and average fuel economy.

Eco-Friendly Cloth Seats
Earth-friendly seating fabric in the Fusion Hybrid is made from 85 percent post-industrial materials -- polyester fibers that would otherwise have ended up in landfills.

Flex Fuel Capability
The responsive available 3.0L Duratec V6 has Flex Fuel capability. You can run on unleaded gasoline, E85 (up to 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) or any mix of the two. So you can fill up wherever you are, even if E85 isn't readily available.
